March is big month to attend Flower Shows around the United States. These shows are a wonderful way to banish the grey or cold days before you can get in your own garden to start working or to get ideas for your own gardens. Even if you have no outdoor space to garden, it is a great place to see the newest flowers or get some plant related ideas that you can use indoors.  Garden shows are fun for all ages,  kids too. Many shows have special exhibits just for the children. (PS The shopping is fun, too.)

This year, from March 2nd through March 10,  they are saying of the largest indoor flower show – The Philadelphia Flower Show– that it is brilliant.  Plan to stay a few days in Philadelphia and also visit some of Philadelphia’s great sites, including the new Barnes Art Museum. Tickets are pricey to the Philadelphia Flower Show, but TheGardenLady read that some places are still offering discount tickets- places like some of the Acme Super Markets,  Septa or the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society.

March 6th is the opening of the Epcot International Flower& Garden Show  in Florida.

March 9th through the 17th is the Chicago Flower & Garden Show.

March 13 through the 17th is also the Boston Flower & Garden Show.

March 15-17 is the Southeastern Flower Show & Antiques in Atlanta, Georgia.

March 20th through March 24th there is the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show.

March 20th to April 14th there is the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC. With the 3, 750 cherry trees in bloom around the Tidal Basin, in Hains Point and on the Washington Monument grounds. It is a little bit of heavon for three weeks.

March 22nd- through the 24th there is also the Washington Home & Garden Show in Washington, DC.

March  22nd through the 24th is Boise Flower & Garden Show in Boise, Idaho.

March 22nd-24th there is also The Capital District Flower & Garden Show.

March 27th is when the Macy’s Flower Show in Manhattan will open.

There are so many wonderful flower shows this month. I hope I haven’t missed any of the shows other than the ones that were held before this column appeared. If there are any Flower Shows in the US that TheGardenLady missed, please let this column know about them.
